OUR MISSION

To PREPARE CHILDREN up to five years old for success in kindergarten by EQUIPPING parents and families through the integrated SUPPORT of the Holland, Zeeland, and Hamilton communities.

COMMUNITY

A thriving community relies on children being ready for school.

DIVERSITY

Diversity and Inclusion are at the heart of what we do.

RESULTS

Our tactics must be data driven and employ evidence based practices.

“I can go to Zeeland Christian 3-year-old Preschool because Ready for School helps my family pay for it! Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to go. Every week my dad also gets texts from Ready for School with ideas about how to help me learn and grow at home. I’ve been practicing using scissors with dad, and we play with blocks so I can have fun while I am getting ready for kindergarten.”

Parent Resource Center

The first 2000 days of your child’s life are in many ways the most important. Connections in your child’s brain that began before birth are created most rapidly between 0-5 years old. These connections, “brain building blocks”, will allow your child to learn, be curious and successful in what he/she does. While this is happening you are your child’s best and most powerful teacher. As a parent there is so much to learn, know and decide. Ready for School is here to support you as a parent so that your child’s brain building days prepare your child for success in kindergarten and life.

OUR STORY

Results of a community adopted early literacy screen in 2008 showed that FEWER THAN HALF of our community’s children were ready for school when they entered kindergarten at age five. In response to this critical need, Ready for School was launched. The good news is that in 2016 63% OF OUR COMMUNITY’S CHILDREN WERE READY.
