Reach Out and Read (ROR) is an internationally operated and acclaimed program that promotes early literacy and school readiness. ROR prepares children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to prescribe books and encourages families to read together.
Through the program, parents receive a developmentally age appropriate book for their child and brain development and learning information at each well-child visit from 6 months to 5 years. Using the existing well-established and trusted program of ROR, Ready for School has partnered with over 50 healthcare providers in Holland and Zeeland who are participating in the program.
Annually over 10,000 books will be given to the children of our community. To maintain Reach Out and Read in our community, it costs between $35-40,000 for the cost of books annually.
Ready for School is a Michigan Multi-site Coordinator for Reach Out and Read National.
