A little of your time goes a long way at Ready for School. There are many ways that you can use that time to help Ready for School reach its goals for our community’s children. Opportunities exist to help on a daily, weekly, quarterly and yearly basis. Because Ready for School is always growing to fit our community, our volunteer opportunities change and grow with us.
Below are some of the general ways you can lend a hand to Ready for School. If you don’t see a category that interests you or fits your skills, contact us and we can work with you to find the best possible fit for you and Ready for School.
Ready for School often needs extra hands when planning, prepping, and putting on many of our events. This can range from:
- putting together resource bags
- helping to set up at an event site
- providing onsite child care
- and more!
When you volunteer for an event, you help Ready for School reach families and donors, helping everyone to understand what it means to be ready for school.
Ready for School volunteers can help on a variety of projects when helping our staff with some of our office duties. In-office duties include:
- helping to greet visitors and answer calls at our reception desk
- putting together information packets and folders
- counting and organizing resources
- helping staff with project specific duties
- and more!
Working in the office provides valuable support for the staff so Ready for School can continue to grow to fit the community’s needs.
Our community outreach team often can use the help of hands-on volunteers that have flexible schedules, are preferably bilingual, and can relate well to both parents and their young children. As we canvas the community with efforts to connect with parents and children offering our services and information, volunteers who love the mission of Ready for School and speak well to it are needed. Ready for School was built by volunteers and still functions through the important time and efforts of such devoted volunteers. Our staff and volunteers are on the same team, working toward the same important goal with both members being held accountable for accomplishing work through partnership. The roles of both staff and volunteer members complement one another and enhance the ability of either partner working alone. As a volunteer at Ready for School, you can expect to be treated as a member of the Ready for School Team.
